Hit the ground running 2013

So far 2013 has had some fantastic new opportunities. Im very busy in production of work for a few old and new galleries which is great to have the invitations to exhibit but I am hoping I am going to be able to meet the supply. There is one thing I do not want to do and that is to get caught up in high supply which can effect the artworks integrity. I am also waiting on seeing one of my artworks used on a wine bottle label. It is something I have been wanting to try for a while. This particular wine is a one off trial so I am hoping down the track to put together a collection of images. Also my art was featured in the February edition of Mcgrath real estate weekly Magazine. It was such a great opportunity to finally get a little story written about what I do and why. This year is a juggle of allot of new projects which some are being kept under wraps at the moment. Until then I will keep popping on my facebook page and blog any moments of interest and inspiration as it happens.

A day in the life...at home with Jenny & Mark

Finally I have made some time to do a blog so I decided to finish off the year with a collection of photos taken at a friends birthday party. These photos for me represent the simplicity of gratitude and for being completely present in the moment.

Awakening our True Nature

Title- Temptress 1500x1200

This year has been a little off track with my art due to the hip operation in March. Initially my recovery time was to take three months but once I was operated on they found more damage which blew out my recovery time to five months. Creating 'True Nature' exhibition pretty much began after my trip to Darwin in July. Feeling a little unclear with what direction I was going to take with my new work I found myself once again in the depths of what I love most. I am constantly drawn into the beliefs of indigenous philosophies of how all is connected and everything is as one. Without going into too much of my beliefs I will however begin to explain 'True Nature'. What is our True Nature' in relation to the earth and the concept of how we are connected. I am concerned that as the human species distances itself further away from nature either from the food we eat or the way we live there is less likely a maternal type connection to the well being of the planet. The concept of adapting a primitive mind to the understanding of the environment does not mean ' uneducated' instead a primitive mind for me means ' an intuitive understanding of the land and its wildlife'.
Already there is an awareness to adapt our innate knowledge into our daily existence. We are now witnessing the result of our primal detachment to the earth as we are feeling the effects of the physical destruction of the environment with the proof of global warming and extinction of wildlife.
As always I choose to create works which celebrate the beauty in nature. I use allot of mark making and layers as a hidden language.  Particular lines are interpretations of story telling about how we see ourself within the structure of the earth.
The new series of art is exploring the inner wisdom of the earth and the ancestral spirits which are  finding those who will listen and awaken to the origins of our 'True Nature".

Details of Darwin - Life in water

It is great to visit a part of Australia which transforms so dramatically because of the wet season. Again the contrasts of the landscape are always evident and yet there is what I call the internal landscape that I find far more interesting. It is the existence under the surface of the water and what is created as soon as the first rain drop hits the dry earth. The wetlands are an endless supply of inspiration  because I am fascinated not just by the lotus flower that blooms but also its amazing root system which holds it in place. This is the landscape I see, as if I am seeing a world which is always transforming and always abundant with life.

Details of Darwin - the natural arts

I love to take photos of how I see nature, the details of texture and contrasts. It was quite remarkable to be walking deep within a lush rainforest then to be walking through a habitat which had been recently burnt. In all my artwork I try to reclaim some of this unpredictability of texture and random plant selection.

Berry and Lily pad

Section of artwork "Red berry" 2011 SOLD
I found this photo which I took about thirteen or more years ago. I have always loved it as it represents what inspires my art and what is stored as reference in my mind. The photo of the berries was taken whilst walking through the Daintree rainforest. As my new exhibition artworks are in progress I am finding my work is beginning to entwine into the depths of what I would call the 'essence of nature'.
My recent trip to Darwin included a wetland cruise as a way to rekindle some much needed creative surge and as usual without a plan I am finding my new paintings are emerging between the forests and the waterholes of the Australian landscape.

A letter to WSPA

Dear WSPA

I decided today to share with you what I feel is a life long dedication of how in our own way we are trying to help improve the lives of animals and the environment. Firstly I would like to mention the reason for my email was just to let you know that my life and my Mums life have always felt passionately about finding a voice for animals and we do this through our art.
My Mum has one big dream in her life and that is to put on an exhibition to show her love for the animal kingdom but most of all to show her adoration to the many WSPA achievements. My Mum is a shy and introverted person so for her to put her art 'on show' in the big wide world or a charity fundraiser would seem too overwhelming however I feel as her daughter that this work and her dream needs to manifest.
I would like to share with you a small selection of her work with you and I hope by next year we will be able to find a way to share her talents and your charity foundation in an exhibition for the general public in Melbourne.
I am also an artist and I believe my art is also my visual voice for the planet. A percentage of my sales of artwork does go to WSPA, Rainforest Rescue and a few other smaller animal welfare charities.
( My Mum Di also donates to WSPA )
I hope my email finds its way into the hearts of those who are participating in the harsh realities of saving animals daily. I would like them to know we are creating art to help support their continuous dedication to creating a world free of animal cruelty.

Kind Regards Tiffany Kingston
( and my Mum Diane Calder has no idea I have sent this email to you)
